In the Zarichne district of Rivne region, during the night of 23–24 March, a car struck Boris the deer, who was well known to local residents and thousands of people on social media. The animal sustained serious injuries in the collision and is in a critical condition, whilst the driver, who fled the scene of the accident, is being sought.

A road traffic accident occurred in the Zarichne district of the Rivne region, in which a deer known to local residents by the name of Boris was injured. The accident took place during the night of 23–24 March.

According to eyewitnesses and the people who look after the animal, it was Boris who was hit by the car. The deer sustained serious injuries in the collision.

The animal’s condition is described as critical. The report states that as a result of the impact, the deer is missing a hind leg.

Law enforcement officers have already identified the car involved in the collision. However, the driver left the scene after the accident. He is currently being sought. All the circumstances of the incident are being established.

Boris, whom locals often call Borka, has long been well known not only in Zarichne but also far beyond the village. The deer regularly came out of the forest to people, approached houses, ate from their hands and even entered yards. It was precisely this unusual behaviour that made him the star of numerous videos on social media.

According to local resident Nadiya, one of the videos featuring Boris has racked up 1.2 million views. It is thanks to such clips that hundreds of thousands of people have come to know about the deer.

It turned out that Boris had his own story too. According to local hunting expert Ruslan Khrystiuk, it was he who raised the deer. The animal, as the man explained, was acquired to ensure red deer were present in the area.

At first, Boris was housed in a large enclosure with the females. Later, according to Ruslan Khrystiuk, the stag became the father of ten fawns.

The owner recalled that Boris was the most energetic of the animals, which is why he even called him Jackie Chan.

Ukraine may begin a gradual increase in gas and electricity tariffs for households as early as 2027. This scenario is set out in the updated Memorandum on Economic and Financial Policies, which the Ukrainian authorities have agreed with the IMF. However, no final decision has yet been made – the document itself does not imply an automatic increase in tariffs.
