National Police liquidates large-scale psychotropic drugs trafficking channel worth UAH 95 million
The National Police exposed a large-scale scheme of illegal sale of psychotropic substances covering several regions of Ukraine. During the operation, law enforcement officers seized about 160 kilograms of drugs worth over UAH 95 million at black market prices.
According to the investigation, the organisers of the drug trade were two men aged 31 and 45. They set up the storage, packaging and packaging of mephedrone and amphetamine in a garage in Kyiv. They then distributed the psychotropics throughout the country through so-called masterclasses. From 5 to 10 packages weighing one kilogram each were left in one cache.
Drug sales were carried out via Telegram channels, and payments were made exclusively in cryptocurrency. The coordinates of the caches were transferred to wholesale buyers after advance payment.
During 16 searches in Kyiv, Cherkasy and Odesa regions, police seized 154 kilograms of mephedrone, 3.5 kilograms of amphetamine, electronic scales, packaging materials, equipment, mobile phones, cash in foreign currency worth more than UAH 3 million and draft records.
Two members of the criminal group were detained. They were served a notice of suspicion of illegal sale of psychotropic substances on a particularly large scale. The court imposed a custodial detention as a measure of restraint. The defendants face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
