The National Police are conducting an investigation into the fact of inflated drug prices.
This is mentioned in the response of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the request of the journalist from "Ekonomichna Pravda".
As the journalists explained, the case concerns inflated prices for medical drugs and non-transparent pricing, which may indicate violations of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 168.
"On May 19, 2025, information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on signs of embezzlement or misappropriation of property through abuse of official position and laundering of funds obtained through criminal means," the statement reads.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, but the results can only be provided after the completion of the pre-trial stage.
Earlier, two interlocutors in the pharmaceutical market and a source in the authorities confirmed the existence of "gray" marketing agreements after March 1. The journalists added that they had already contacted the Ministry of Health, the National Security and Defense Council, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a question about whether they recorded such violations since March 1. However, the agencies stated that control or accountability for this does not fall within their competence.
In February, President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to reduce prices for essential and most in-demand medicines in Ukraine by 30% starting from March 1.
