Energoatom’s Supervisory Board has launched an investigation following information from NABU
NAEK “Energoatom” announced the Supervisory Board’s decision.
The Supervisory Board of JSC “NAEK “Energoatom” adopted a series of decisions following receipt of information from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
According to the company, on 8 May 2026, the Supervisory Board received information from the NABU which may indicate that criminal offences have been committed by certain officials of the company. This information, as noted by “Energoatom”, was also confirmed by a separate report from another source.
The Supervisory Board approved the response measures at an extraordinary meeting on 10 May 2026.
On the morning of 11 May, the company was instructed to conduct an official internal investigation into the circumstances set out in the NABU letter and reported by the other source. The Supervisory Board is to be kept informed of the progress of this investigation.
In addition, several Energoatom employees have been suspended from work and their duties for the duration of the investigation.
Separately, the Supervisory Board has instructed that an internal reorganisation of certain structural units of the company be carried out. This concerns the units responsible for physical protection and economic security.
The aim of the reorganisation is to strengthen control over the activities of the executive body. It is to be completed no later than 19 June 2026.
According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, among those suspended is Bogdan Shmyhelskyi, Director of the Human Resources Department at Energoatom. Zheleznyak also stated that Shmyhelskyi is the godfather of Andrii Kozura, Director General of the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
Separately, the MP raised the question of whether Kozura would remain in his post following Shmyhelskyi’s suspension. In his statement, Zheleznyak referred to alleged systematic bullying of licensed staff and the persecution of individual employees following their dismissal, particularly those already serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
These claims by Zheleznyak currently constitute his political assessment and statement. The official statement from Energoatom does not list the names of the suspended employees.
The company’s statement also notes that the launch of an international search for executives and the necessary procurement for this were approved at the tenth meeting of the Supervisory Board on 8 May
2026. Energoatom stated that the Supervisory Board’s decisions are aimed at strengthening integrity, accountability and corporate governance within the company.
As reported by ThePublic, the NACP launched an internal investigation following the publication of materials by the NABU regarding the possible receipt of $20,000 from individuals involved in the investigation.
