Russian night attack on Kyiv and region: two dead, at least four injured

On the night of 5 January, Russia attacked Kyiv and Kyiv region with attack drones. In the capital, a hit damaged a private medical facility in Obolon, killing a patient. In Kyiv region, a local resident was killed in Fastiv district, and houses and a high-rise building were damaged.

On the night of 5 January, Russian troops launched another attack on Kyiv and Kyiv region. Two civilians were killed in the attack. At least four people were injured, and damage to residential and civilian infrastructure was reported

In Kyiv's Obolon district, a drone hit a four-storey building of a private medical facility on the second floor, where an inpatient unit operates. Rescuers extinguished the fire and evacuated 25 people. During the inspection of the premises, they found the body of a dead man born in 1995, who was undergoing inpatient treatment. Kyiv authorities also reported four injured, two of them in serious condition. Of the 26 patients at the clinic, 16 were transferred to municipal hospitals in the city

In Kyiv region, rescuers found the body of a dead man while extinguishing a fire in a private house in Fastiv district. According to the regional police, one private house was destroyed and 13 private houses, a multi-storey building, cars and garages were damaged. In Vyshgorod district, a five-storey residential building was damaged, and residents were evacuated. A power outage was also reported in Slavutych

Law enforcement and emergency services are working at the sites of the strikes. Pre-trial investigations have been launched under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on violation of the laws and customs of war. Separately, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that overnight, Russia used 165 attack drones, about 100 of which were of the Shahed type
