New documents reveal details of Prince Andrew`s ties to Jeffrey Epstein
According to the published emails, in August 2010, a month after Epstein was released from house arrest, Prince Andrew invited him to a private dinner at Buckingham Palace. In his correspondence, Epstein reported that he was in London with three women and asked for a private meeting to be arranged. In response, the Duke of York suggested holding the dinner at the palace, noting that this would ensure complete confidentiality.
The documents also show that in November 2010, Prince Andrew again discussed the upcoming meeting with Epstein and said he was looking forward to it. This casts doubt on the prince's previous statements about severing ties with the financier after the investigation began in 2006.
The materials also include photographs showing Prince Andrew with an unidentified woman. In addition, the released documents show regular correspondence between the men since the early 2000s.
The declassified files indicate that Prince Andrew consulted with Epstein on investment opportunities, including projects to rebuild Afghanistan. In a confidential memorandum obtained during the prince's tenure as a British trade representative, he sought advice on potential investors.
Individual letters also testify to the prince's contacts with international political and business circles. In particular, Epstein reported on the Duke of York's close ties with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and offered to arrange meetings with business representatives.
The documents also contain information about attempts to involve the royal family in promoting the film The King's Speech. According to the correspondence, Epstein and his partners sought to obtain Queen Elizabeth II's support for the film, but Buckingham Palace did not back these initiatives.
The published materials have sparked a new wave of attention to Prince Andrew's ties with Epstein and may raise additional questions about the nature of their relationship and possible risks to national security.
