Shelling of regions: dead and dozens wounded, hundreds of civilian objects damaged
Russian shelling in a number of regions of Ukraine has resulted in deaths and injuries, as well as the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure. Law enforcement agencies continue to evacuate people from frontline areas. This was reported by the Communications Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, based on information from the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).
Zaporizhzhia region
On 28 February, Russian troops carried out 519 attacks with drones, mainly FPV drones, delivered 11 air strikes, used multiple launch rocket systems six times and fired artillery 245 times.
Thirty-six settlements in the Zaporizhzhia, Vasylivka, and Polohiv districts came under fire, including Vilniansk, Novomykolaivka, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Stepnogorsk, and others.
The occupiers struck the village of Bilenke in the Zaporizhzhia district with a guided aerial bomb. An 86-year-old woman was killed, and two other local residents, aged 54 and 64, were injured.
Private and apartment buildings, farm buildings, transport and infrastructure facilities were damaged. Police investigation teams and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) worked at the scene.
On the same day, 14 people were evacuated from Komyshuvakha and Zarichne — three men, seven women and four children.
Kherson region
Russian troops shelled Kherson and settlements in the region with artillery, mortars and drones. Kherson, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Kizomys, Oleksandrivka, Komyshany, Pryozerne, Mykilsk, Shyroka Balka, Chornobaivka, Sadove, Kozatske and Vesele were targeted.
The police recorded damage to 21 objects, including six private and three apartment buildings, a dormitory, a service station, a petrol station, two police cars, four civilian cars and two gas pipelines.
A 72-year-old woman was killed in Bilozertsi as a result of artillery shelling.
In the central district of Kherson, an FPV drone hit a petrol station, causing a fire that was extinguished by rescuers. A 31-year-old man suffered burns to his respiratory tract and concussion and was hospitalised. Another drone attack injured a 46-year-old woman, who suffered mine-blast and traumatic brain injuries and shrapnel wounds.
In Novoraysk, a Molniya-type drone damaged two police vehicles, but no law enforcement officers were injured.
Damage to residential buildings, cars, a university dormitory, a service station, and gas pipelines was reported in various areas of Kherson and the region. In several cases, fires broke out.
Donetsk region
Ten settlements were shelled, including Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Druzhkivka, and Dobropillia.
Seventy-nine civilian objects were destroyed or damaged, including 60 residential buildings.
A man was killed in Kostyantynivka as a result of an artillery strike. Two civilians were killed in the village of Donetsk.
Kramatorsk was attacked by four drones, injuring two people and damaging a petrol station and infrastructure facility.
Druzhkivka was shelled with six KAB-250 aerial bombs and an FPV drone. A civilian was wounded, five private houses, a farm building and five cars were damaged.
One person was injured in Dobropillia by a KAB-250 strike. In Lvivka, a Lancet drone destroyed an express delivery service truck, injuring the driver.
In Sloviansk, three aerial bombs damaged 37 private houses and two cars. Sukhanivka was shelled with a Smerch multiple rocket launcher, damaging 17 houses, a shop and three cars. In Mykolaivka, an infrastructure facility was damaged, and in Raigorodok, a residential building was damaged.
Dnipropetrovsk region
On 1 March, the Novooleksandrivska community in the Dniprovskyi district was shelled, injuring a man and damaging private houses.
In the Synelnykivskyi district, a drone attacked the Slavohorod community, damaging two houses and a garage. In the Mezhivska community, a 56-year-old man was killed and two other people were wounded as a result of an FPV drone attack. In the city of Shakhtarsk, a 38-year-old man was wounded and an excavator was damaged. In the Pokrovsk community, 11 houses and a car were damaged by guided aerial bombs, and one person was wounded.
In the Nikopol region, Nikopol, Marganets and several communities were under attack. In the evening, a drone targeted a civilian car in Nikopol — a 47-year-old female driver was injured and received medical assistance. In total, the police received 94 reports of shelling.
Law enforcement officers and rescuers continue to record the consequences of the attacks and assist the victims.
