The Patrol Police will spend 5 million hryvnias on postage stamps featuring Patron the Dog
Details of the procurement have been published on the ProZorro system.
The estimated cost of the procurement is almost 5 million hryvnias. The funds are earmarked for the purchase of both standard and collector’s stamps. Specifically: 5,750 sheets of the ‘Pes Patron’ stamp sheet, and 101,000 standard U-series postage stamps.
Under the terms of the tender, the stamps must be delivered by the end of the year.
Earlier, the Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine and Acting Head of the Patrol Police Department, Oleksandr Fatsievych, complained about insufficient funding for the patrol police in an interview with the publication ‘Babel’. According to him, this is the key reason for the inadequate training of patrol officers.
“You have to understand that there are 100,000 police officers in the force; to train one officer, you need at least 500 rounds a year, and one round costs around 15 hryvnias. That comes to no less than 750 million hryvnias. We are currently calculating how many rounds of ammunition we need for various units so that we can place an order and ensure they receive proper training,” said Fatsievych.
As a reminder, ThePublic analysed how the patrol police force has developed and why the reform, which began with a high level of public trust, has found itself at the centre of the biggest scandal in its entire history.
