The police warn about a new scam scheme regarding cars
This is reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Telegram.
The Cyber Police, in cooperation with the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, has uncovered a new online scam scheme in which criminals deceive citizens during car sales. According to the department, scammers offer non-existent cars at "favorable prices" and provide forged documents to appear convincing.
The scammers' characteristic is the use of emotional topics, including volunteer activities, to build trust and prompt potential buyers to act quickly.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that for personal safety when buying a car online, it is necessary to:- verify all information only through official channels, including the MVS databases and registries;- not trust copies of documents sent via messengers, as they can easily be stolen;- never transfer money for a car that has not been personally inspected.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds that caution and attentiveness during online transactions help avoid financial losses and ensure safety.
