A drop in temperatures, rain and gale-force winds: the weather in Ukraine from 6 to 10 April

On Monday, 6 April, an atmospheric front will move into Ukraine. According to Natalka Didenko, rain will affect the western, northern and central regions, as well as the Odesa and Kharkiv regions. The Luhansk and Donetsk regions, along with most of the south, are expected to remain dry on this day. In Kyiv on 6 April, rain, cloudy skies and a drop in temperature to +10…+12 degrees are forecast.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre specifies that between 6 and 8 April, Ukraine will see occasional light to moderate rain, with wet snow possible in some areas on the night of 8 April. The wind will shift from south-westerly to north-westerly, with gusts of 15–20 m/s expected in most regions on 6–7 April. On 6 April, daytime temperatures will range from 14 to 20 degrees Celsius, but it will be cooler in the western and northern regions – 10 to 16 degrees. By 7–8 April, daytime temperatures across the country will drop by a further 5–7 degrees.
Separately, forecasters are warning of ground frost. On the night of 6 April, it is expected in the east and north-east, and on 7 April – in the western, northern, Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions. A yellow alert has been issued for these regions.
Going forward, according to Didenko, a noticeable cold snap will persist in Ukraine. She also notes that no significant warmth is currently forecast for Easter: temperatures, according to preliminary estimates, will be around +9…+12 degrees, although it is expected to be sunny in most regions, with rain on 12 April likely mainly in the south. The forecaster emphasises separately that this forecast still needs to be refined.
As a reminder, no significant magnetic storms are forecast for Monday, 6 April. A calm geomagnetic situation is expected, and the level of solar activity will remain moderate and safe for most people.
