Law enforcement officials have informed Kolomoyskyi of a new charge — media reports
This is reported by the publication ‘Babel’, citing sources within law enforcement agencies.
Kolomoyskyi is already facing trial on several counts. One relates to the embezzlement of 9.2 billion hryvnias from PrivatBank.
Investigators claim that in early 2015, Kolomoisky, then head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, devised a scheme to illegally obtain the bank’s funds. He wanted to finance an offshore company under his control and increase his stake in the bank.
In another case, investigators suspect that Kolomoyskyi ordered the murder of lawyer and law firm director Serhiy Karpenko in 2003. According to law enforcement officials, Kolomoyskyi ordered the murder because Karpenko had failed to comply with demands to annul and declare invalid the decisions of the general meeting of shareholders of a public limited company. The events took place in Crimea, in Feodosia.
As a reminder, the High Anti-Corruption Court previously granted the SAPO’s request for the extradition of former PrivatBank board chairman Oleksandr Dubilet to Ukraine. He is accused of involvement in the embezzlement of 8.2 billion hryvnias from the financial institution on the eve of its nationalisation
