A sharp drop in temperature has led to an increase in electricity consumption by more than 20% since the beginning of the month.

As reported by ThePublic.info, the head of "Ukrenergo" Vitaliy Zaychenko announced this on the "United News" telethon broadcast.

The sharp decrease in temperatures has led to an increase in electricity consumption by more than 20% since the beginning of the month. However, heat is expected to appear in homes across Ukraine within ten days.

According to him, a significant portion of Ukrainians are currently forced to heat their homes using air conditioners and electric heaters, which puts considerable strain on the energy system.

Zaychenko emphasized that the behavior of household consumers now critically affects the balance in the network, as the population is the largest electricity consumer in the country.

"Not turning off powerful appliances during peak hours, avoiding the simultaneous use of several energy-intensive devices, and replacing inefficient lamps can significantly help the energy system," - stated the head of "Ukrenergo".

He added that in the coming days, heat supply is expected to be restored throughout Ukraine. According to the company's forecast, this should reduce peak loads, as the need for intensive electric heating will decrease.
