Returning from abroad is now easier: how the ‘Home’ platform can help Ukrainians
The ‘Home’ platform
For those planning to return to Ukraine from abroad, a special platform called ‘Home’ has been launched. With its help, refugees will be able to draw up a step-by-step action plan that takes all the details into account – from finding accommodation to their children’s education.

For more details on the benefits and popularity of this platform, its features and a step-by-step guide to using it, read the article on ThePublic.

How many Ukrainians have already visited the ‘Dodomu’ platform

At the end of June, as part of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk, the ‘Dodomu’ digital platform (dodomu.unity.gov.ua) was launched.

It is designed for citizens planning to return to Ukraine from other countries around the world.

According to information from the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, this platform is currently:

  • operating in test mode;
  • is accessible via the relevant link.

“Within a week of its launch… the ‘Dodomu’ platform has already been visited by over 10,000 users from more than 10 countries. In particular, those with the largest Ukrainian communities – Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic,” said Denys Ulyutin, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, during an official presentation in Kyiv.

He also emphasised that policy regarding Ukrainians abroad must form part of a comprehensive social and recovery policy.

How this platform can help Ukrainians

Overall, the “Home” platform is designed to help Ukrainians abroad:

  • obtain up-to-date information about the opportunities and services available to them in Ukraine;
  • obtain up-to-date information on the steps they need to take to prepare for their return;
  • draw up a personalised plan for their return.

This project brings together information on:

  • local communities;
  • services;
  • employment opportunities;
  • education;
  • social support in Ukraine;
  • other tools needed to make informed decisions about return and reintegration.

In addition, the platform contains information about overseas centres where you can find support in deciding whether to return:

  • Unity Centres;
  • organisations that are part of the Unity Network.

How to make the most of the “Home” platform

The platform allows Ukrainians to find all the information they need to return home:

  • either on their own;
  • or by creating a personalised plan.

To create one, you need to complete a short questionnaire (up to 3 minutes).

This will enable you to create a personalised return plan that takes all your individual needs into account.

“For example, if you have children, the plan will include additional steps for finding schools or nurseries, as well as any available benefits,” the platform explains to users in the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section.

The plan thus generated contains a detailed list of steps to be taken before returning – with links to resources and contact details for support organisations in the areas where Ukrainians are currently staying.

The plan is saved automatically, and once you have registered on the platform, you can track its progress online.

Who is invited to join the “Dodomu” platform

During the platform’s official launch in Kyiv, Katrin Buchholz, Chargé d’Affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, emphasised that people are the main driving force behind Ukraine’s recovery.

“That is precisely why supporting the voluntary return of Ukrainians and their successful reintegration requires not only access to reliable information and high-quality public services, but also close cooperation between the state, local communities and international partners,” she said.

According to Buchholz, the “Home” platform combines these elements, “creating the conditions for informed decisions and making an important contribution to Ukraine’s social recovery”.

Meanwhile, Ilona Gavronska, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine for European Integration, called on communities from across the country to join this initiative:

  • communities from across the country (to become partners for Ukrainians returning home);
  • Ukrainian organisations abroad (to expand the Unity Network).
