As a result of night-time attacks by drones and aerial bombs, energy facilities and residential buildings have been damaged, people have been injured, and rescue workers are clearing up the aftermath of the strikes.

On the night of 18 January, Russian troops again attacked the energy infrastructure of the Odesa region. According to the State Emergency Service, a fire broke out at one of the facilities, which was quickly extinguished by SES units. The strikes damaged a production building, company property, and a passenger car. There were no casualties or injuries, and the relevant services continue to work at the site.

The Dnipropetrovsk region was also hit last night. Six people were injured in the Vasylkiv community of the Synelnykivsky district as a result of a drone attack. Fires broke out in the private sector, damaging three residential buildings, a farm building, a car and a fire and rescue unit building, where the blast wave knocked out windows and doors. No rescuers were injured and all fires were extinguished.

Russian troops shelled the Nikopol district with heavy artillery and attacked with FPV drones in the evening and at night. In Nikopol, a passenger car was burned down, an outbuilding was destroyed, and seven private houses, two garages, a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged. Air defence forces shot down 14 enemy drones over the region.

Attacks were also recorded in the Khmelnytskyi region. Several fires broke out at one of the facilities in the Khmelnytskyi district after the strike, which were quickly extinguished by rescuers. There were no casualties or injuries.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in the last week alone, Russia has used more than 1,300 strike drones, about 1,050 guided aerial bombs and 29 missiles of various types against Ukraine. Last night, the enemy launched more than 200 drones, striking the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions. The president stressed that Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defence and greater support from its partners to protect civilians and the energy system.
