Russia launched a night-time attack on Kyiv and a number of regions in Ukraine using drones and artillery
Kyiv
Explosions were heard in the capital during a night-time attack by Russian drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported a group of enemy UAVs moving towards Kyiv from the east.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, urged residents to remain in shelters and warned of possible air defence operations.
It later emerged that in the Obolon district, debris from a drone had fallen onto the roof of a residential building. Initially, reports mentioned a 20-storey building, but later the mayor, Vitali Klitschko, clarified that it was a 16-storey building.
The falling debris caused a fire on the roof of the service floor. It was extinguished. No other damage was reported.
According to the Kyiv police, residents of the building extinguished the fire before the emergency services arrived. There were no casualties. Investigative teams were at the scene documenting the aftermath of the attack.
Kyiv Region
In the Fastiv district of the Kyiv region, a nursery, residential buildings and private homes were damaged as a result of an attack by Russian drones.
Falling debris caused the roof of the nursery school to catch fire. Windows were blown out in a nearby four-storey building. Private homes were also damaged.
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that there were no civilian casualties.
The Kyiv Regional Police specified that in the Fastiv district, a nursery school, five private homes and a four-storey building were damaged.
Rescue workers, bomb disposal experts and forensic teams were working at the scene.
Dnipropetrovsk region
One person was injured in Dnipro as a result of an air strike. A fire also broke out and transport infrastructure was damaged.
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, reported that since the evening of 11 May, Russian forces had attacked five districts of the region more than 20 times using drones, artillery and aerial bombs.
As a result of the attacks, one person was killed and four others were injured.
Kharkiv region
In the village of Velykyi Burluk, Kupianskyi District, Russian troops attacked the premises of a business with a strike drone during the night.
The strike set a bus and a lorry alight.
Another UAV strike was recorded in the village of Bezruky, Dergachi community, Kharkiv district. A farm building caught fire there and a residential house was damaged.
Firefighters extinguished the fires. There were no casualties.
Zaporizhzhia region
According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Russian forces carried out 731 strikes on 24 settlements in the region over the past 24 hours.
Eight attacks from multiple launch rocket systems were recorded on Novoyakovlivka, Stepnogorsk, Stepove, Lukyanivsk, Pavlivka and Shcherbaky.
There were 30 reports of damage to homes, non-residential buildings, vehicles and infrastructure.
Kherson region
In the Kherson region, 12 people, including a child, were injured as a result of Russian strikes over the past 24 hours.
According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, a multi-storey building, five private houses, a petrol station, agricultural machinery and private cars were damaged.
Donetsk region
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops killed three residents of the Donetsk region and wounded six others.
Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that two people were killed in Mykolaivka. Another person was killed in Dobropillia, where four others were also injured.
Two more people were wounded in Druzhkivka.
