Russia is fraudulently recruiting Bangladeshi citizens for the war against Ukraine
Russia is recruiting foreigners to fight in the war, using civilian contracts and promises of non-combat duties as a cover.

Western media investigations show that Russia systematically uses dubious employment agencies to recruit Bangladeshi citizens to participate in the war against Ukraine. Foreigners are recruited into the Russian army through outright deception, taking advantage of their ignorance of the Russian language and the true terms of contracts. This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Bangladeshi citizens who managed to survive and return home say that they signed documents without realizing their content. According to them, many were convinced that they were concluding a civilian employment contract or agreeing to work in the army in non-combat positions in the rear. In fact, upon arrival, they were sent directly to the combat zone.

According to eyewitnesses, in the Russian army they were beaten, tortured and threatened with execution. Some of them, according to former contract workers, were used as “human shields”, sending them to assault operations in front of Russian units.

Analysts note that Russian propaganda is actively working in the countries of the Global South, speculating on the rhetoric of anti-colonialism and promoting anti-Western messages. At the same time, the Kremlin’s real goal is to compensate for the shortage of Russian citizens who are ready to fight even for significant financial rewards. To do this, Moscow resorts to attracting foreigners from poorer countries, not disdaining manipulation, lies and violence.
