Russian attacks on regions of Ukraine on 20 April: what is known about the consequences

Overnight and throughout the day, Russian forces attacked a number of regions in Ukraine. The strikes have resulted in casualties, injuries and extensive damage.

Kyiv Region

On the night of 19 April, Kyiv Oblast was attacked by strike drones. In the Brovary district, a man born in 1974 was injured; he has been hospitalised and is receiving medical treatment.

Damage has been reported to two private houses and four vehicles, and windows have been shattered in a flat in a block of flats and in a swimming pool building. The attack also caused a fire in a residential building, which has been extinguished.

Emergency services are working at the scene. The attack is ongoing.

Kharkiv region

In Velykyi Burluk, a fire covering an area of 200 square metres broke out following drone strikes on a three-apartment residential building.

Three people were injured. Rescue workers operated under the threat of further strikes, and medics provided assistance to the injured.

Dnipropetrovsk region

Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih, the Nikopol and Synelnykiv districts with drones, artillery and aerial bombs. A total of six people were wounded.

In the Nikopol district, five people were injured; three of them have been hospitalised, and a 74-year-old man is in a critical condition. Businesses, infrastructure, private homes, a high-rise building and a farm building were damaged.

In Kryvyi Rih, a fire broke out following a strike on an infrastructure facility. High-rise buildings have been damaged. A 39-year-old man has been injured.

In the Synelnykivskyi district, fires have been reported in a private house and a farm building, and infrastructure has also been damaged.

Kherson region

Over the past 24 hours, one person was killed and seven others were injured as a result of Russian strikes.

Three high-rise buildings, 26 private homes and cars were damaged.

Zaporizhzhia region

Russian forces carried out 596 strikes on 39 settlements in the region.

Four people were injured. There were 155 reports of damage to homes, cars and infrastructure.

Sumy region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out nearly 70 strikes on 23 settlements across 13 communities.

Three people were injured.

Mykolaiv region

The region was attacked by Shahed-type drones. Critical and energy infrastructure came under fire.

In Mykolaiv, an apartment block and 15 private houses, a car, tram tracks and power lines were damaged. Some residents were temporarily left without electricity.

In the Mykolaiv district, five attacks by FPV drones on the Ochakiv community were recorded. No casualties were reported.

In Druzhkivka, in the Donetsk region, a Russian FPV drone struck an armoured vehicle belonging to the ‘Proliska’ humanitarian mission, which was being used to evacuate civilians. The driver was unharmed, but the vehicle sustained damage.
