Russian troops have attacked a number of regions in Ukraine; there are casualties
Kherson Region
Two people were injured in Kherson on the night of 23 April as a result of Russian drone strikes. A 63-year-old man, who was struck at around 21:00 in the Central District, and a 71-year-old woman, who was injured at 01:40 in the Korabelny District, were taken to hospital.
The victims were diagnosed with blast injuries, concussion and acute stress reaction. The woman also sustained shrapnel wounds to her torso. She was hospitalised in a condition of moderate severity. The man was given medical assistance and prescribed outpatient treatment.
Also in the Kherson region, Russian forces shelled 42 settlements over the past 24 hours. As a result of the Russian aggression, 11 people were injured. A high-rise building, 11 private houses, a bank, farm buildings, a gas pipeline and private cars were damaged.
Zaporizhzhia region
Over the past 24 hours, the occupiers carried out 820 strikes on 50 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, one person was wounded as a result of enemy attacks on the Zaporizhzhia district.
Separately, it was reported that the Russians struck Komyshuvakha with guided aerial bombs. Private homes were destroyed, and buildings were damaged by the blast wave and debris. A 77-year-old woman was killed. There were 140 reports of damage to homes, cars and infrastructure.
Sumy region
Over the course of 24 hours, from the morning of 22 April to the morning of 23 April, Russian forces carried out around 100 strikes on 40 settlements across 19 local communities in the Sumy region.
In the Velykopysarivska community, a 67-year-old man was killed by an enemy drone strike. In the Hlukhivska community, a 67-year-old man was also killed by a Russian drone strike.
A 57-year-old woman and five children, who were injured as a result of drone strikes in the Sumy community on the night of 21 April, received medical treatment. The children include an 11-year-old girl and boys aged 1, 2, 8 and 14.
The highest number of Russian attacks was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, unmanned aerial vehicles and guided aerial bombs.
Kharkiv region
Over the past 24 hours, Kharkiv and 19 other settlements in the Kharkiv region came under Russian attack. One person was killed and four others were injured.
In Zolochiv, a 25-year-old man was wounded. In Slatyn, Dergachi community, a 28-year-old and a 65-year-old man were injured. In Cherkasy Tyshky, a 66-year-old man was killed, and another 68-year-old man was injured.
Medical staff also treated a 53-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman who were injured in Vilkhuvatka on 21 April, and two men aged 65 and 61 who were injured in Kupiansk on 29 March.
The enemy attacked the Kyiv and Nemyshlyanskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones. In addition, the Russians attacked the Kharkiv region with three guided aerial bombs, four ‘Geran-2’ drones, 11 ‘Molniya’ drones, four FPV drones and 31 drones of an as yet unidentified type.
Zhytomyr region
The Russian army attacked civilian transport infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region. A woman was killed in the strike.
According to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, rescue workers, repair crews and law enforcement agencies are working at the site of the attack.
In the morning, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of drones towards Korosten in the Zhytomyr region. In the Korosten district, the air raid alert lasted from 05:46 to 08:45.
Dnipropetrovsk region
Explosions were heard in Kryvyi Rih on the morning of 23 April. The Russian army attacked the city with drones. Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council, said: “The explosion was caused by air defence. They were shot down. There are still a few more drones over the city. Be careful.”
Earlier reports indicated that the enemy had attacked Dnipro during the night. The number of people injured as a result of the Russian drone strike has risen to ten. According to Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, two people were also killed as a result of the Russian Federation’s night-time attack on Dnipro.
