Rostislav Shurma denied hiding from the investigation and declared his willingness to cooperate.
Commenting on media reports that he and his brother had been placed on a wanted list, Rostislav Shurma noted that he was in the Federal Republic of Germany on legal grounds and was not hiding from law enforcement agencies.
"I am ready to cooperate with the investigation within the limits of the law, with respect for my right to defence and due process. The defence has officially requested that my participation in the proceedings be ensured via videoconference and/or using the legal mechanisms available at my place of residence (including the possibility of conducting the relevant actions through diplomatic institutions)," wrote the former deputy head of the Presidential Administration.
Rostislav Shurma also added that he does not feel guilty and will prove his innocence in accordance with the law.
In addition, he called on journalists to adhere to the presumption of innocence and refrain from making categorical statements until the court's decision.
Earlier, media reports said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at the request of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, had issued a warrant for the arrest of former Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Rostislav Shurma and his brother Oleg. They are charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code (appropriation or embezzlement of property through abuse of office) and Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code (legalisation of property obtained by criminal means).
