Danish intelligence warned of interference in the 24 March elections
This is stated in a statement by the Danish Security Service.
Danish intelligence named Russia as the main threat and also pointed to the United States and China as potential sources of influence.
The service noted that it is "very likely" that Denmark is a priority target for Russian influence measures due to its support for Ukraine.
The statement also mentions growing tensions around Greenland. According to intelligence estimates, US attempts to take control of the Arctic island have intensified disinformation that could overshadow the vote.
"US attention to the Kingdom has also created new international lines of conflict that foreign states such as Russia and China can exploit for influence," the service said.
The assessment also notes that interference in the US elections "may come from a wide range of actors, including those with no official ties to the US administration."
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced early elections to be held on 24 March, citing significant US foreign policy pressure on Greenland.
Recent opinion polls have shown that the Prime Minister's Social Democrats are approaching a majority together with the left-wing parties.
