US intelligence believes that Iran has retained a significant portion of its missile and drone capabilities despite strikes by the US and Israel. These are assessments made over the past few days.

According to US intelligence estimates, around half of Iran’s launch sites remain intact following US and Israeli strikes on military targets. This was reported by three sources familiar with the relevant data, CNN reports.

It is estimated that Iran also retains thousands of attack drones. According to two of the sources, this represents about half of the country’s drone capability.

The sources note that the figures may include launchers that are currently inaccessible, particularly those that were buried underground as a result of the strikes but were not destroyed.

A significant portion of Iran’s coastal defence cruise missiles also remained intact. These estimates are consistent with the fact that the US air campaign did not focus on coastal military installations, although strikes were carried out against ships.

These missiles play a key role in Iran’s ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Intelligence assessments paint a more subdued picture of Iran’s capabilities compared with the public statements made by US President Donald Trump and members of his administration regarding military success.

Russia is facing mounting pressure due to the situation on the front line, economic problems and strikes by Ukrainian drones on its territory. European officials suggest that Moscow’s increasingly aggressive rhetoric may be linked to attempts to restart the negotiation process on its own terms.
