Russia attacked nine regions of Ukraine overnight; there have been fatalities, dozens of people have been injured and there has been widespread destruction

On the night of 8 July and throughout the following day, Russian forces carried out strikes on Kyiv and the regions of Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Sumy, Chernihiv and Donetsk. The attacks resulted in fatalities, with dozens of civilians injured, and damage to residential buildings, businesses, energy facilities and transport infrastructure.

Odesa Region

The number of people injured in the missile strike on Odesa has risen to 11, including three women. Nine have been hospitalised, and doctors describe the condition of a 48-year-old man as critical. Overnight, the region also came under a massive attack by strike drones. Three petrol stations in the south of the region and an energy infrastructure facility were damaged, and fires broke out. All relevant emergency services are working at the scenes.

Zaporizhzhia region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 1,016 strikes on 62 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ten people were injured as a result of attacks on Zaporizhzhia city and the Zaporizhzhia district. A food processing plant and a garage co-operative were damaged by guided aerial bombs. As a result of the shelling, 15,342 customers were left without electricity; restoration work is ongoing.

Kharkiv region

Russian troops struck the Nemyshlyanskyi district of Kharkiv overnight, reportedly using a ‘Tornado-S’ multiple launch rocket system. A church, over 20 private homes, garages and cars were damaged. According to the latest figures, nine people were injured, including a two-year-old child. All suffered acute stress reactions.

Mykolaiv Oblast

In the Bashtanka district, according to preliminary reports, Russian forces carried out an attack using guided aerial bombs. A mother and her daughter were killed, and two other people were injured. Twenty private homes, an educational establishment and a power line were damaged. The day before, a drone attacked Ochakiv, damaging a block of flats and a car; there were no casualties.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Since the evening, Russian forces have attacked five districts of the region more than 20 times using drones and artillery. According to the regional military administration, four people were injured.

Kherson Region

Over the past 24 hours, 18 residents of the region have been injured as a result of Russian shelling. A multi-storey building and private homes, an agricultural enterprise, a shop, a petrol station, an ambulance and private vehicles have been damaged. This morning, a Russian drone attacked a public bus in Kherson. A woman was killed, several other people were injured, and one of the injured is in a critical condition.

Sumy region

Russian forces carried out more than 30 strikes on four districts in the Sumy region. Six people were injured. In the Mykolaiv community, a drone struck a residential building; three women were injured, and two others sought help due to acute stress reactions. Residential buildings, educational, cultural and healthcare facilities, as well as critical infrastructure, were damaged.

Chernihiv Oblast

Russian drones attacked two businesses in the Koryukivka district. At one site, a farm building caught fire; at the other, a car and a tractor were damaged. Firefighters extinguished the blazes. No one was injured.

Donetsk Oblast

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have wounded six civilians in the Donetsk region. According to the regional military administration, four people were injured in Krasnotorets, with one person wounded each in Kindrativka and Spasko-Mykhailivka.
