Russia has carried out more than 900 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region; there have been fatalities and dozens of people have been injured
Zaporizhzhia Region
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have carried out 931 strikes on 50 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, one person was killed and a further 14 were injured as a result of the attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district. There were 72 reports of damage to residential buildings, vehicles and infrastructure.
Overnight, Russian drones attacked Zaporizhzhia. Nine residential buildings and non-residential structures in the Oleksandrivskyi and Kosmichnyi districts of the city were damaged. These included five blocks of flats and four private homes. The blast wave shattered windows and damaged roofs.
According to the State Emergency Service, the strike caused a fire in a three-storey residential building covering an area of 800 square metres. Due to the threat of further attacks, rescue workers were forced to suspend their operations several times and take cover. The fire was only brought under control in the early hours of the morning. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service provided support to 38 people, including two children.
Dnipropetrovsk region
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces launched drone attacks on Nikopol, as well as the communities of Myrivka and Pokrovka. The strikes caused damage to infrastructure. There were no casualties.
Sumy Region
In the Sumy region, six communities came under attack during the night. In the Bilopil community, a 62-year-old woman and two men aged 59 and 47 were injured as a result of a drone attack. Residential buildings, vehicles and infrastructure were damaged.
In the Hlukhiv community, a residential building, a car and civilian infrastructure were damaged. In the Novoslobodsk and Yunakiv communities, private homes were destroyed. In the Seredyna-Bud community, residential buildings, farm buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged. A 70-year-old man who was injured during a drone attack on the night of 15 June also sought medical attention.
According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, a total of seven people were injured in the region over the past 24 hours as a result of Russian strikes. In the Trostyanets community, a 42-year-old man, a 48-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were injured in a drone attack. From the morning of 16 June to the morning of 17 June, Russian forces attacked communities in the region 55 times. Twenty-four settlements came under fire. Fifty-one people were evacuated from border communities.
Kherson region
In the Kherson region, Russian troops struck 44 settlements over the past 24 hours. As a result of the shelling, two people were killed and a further 11 were wounded. Eleven people were evacuated from liberated communities in the region.
Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv region, Kharkiv and nine other settlements in the region came under Russian attack. A total of 11 people were injured. In Kharkiv, a 66-year-old woman and men aged 67, 53 and 44 were injured. In Bohodukhiv, three women and three men were injured.
A 68-year-old woman was also injured in the village of Berezhne, in the Vovchanska community. Near the village of Petrivka, in the Zolochivska community, a 60-year-old man was injured when his car hit an explosive device. Medical assistance was also provided to a 57-year-old man who was injured during the shelling of Vovchanskiy Khutory on 10 June.
In various districts of the Kharkiv region, residential buildings, an educational institution, a grain silo, warehouses, civilian enterprises, transport and power grids have been damaged. Over the past 24 hours, the transit evacuation centre in Lozova has received 243 people.
