Russia is making greater use of Belarus for drone attacks — State Border Guard Service
This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, citing a statement by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Russia has changed its drone routes
According to Demchenko, there has been an increase in recent weeks in the number of instances where Russian attack drones enter Belarusian territory and then move from there towards Ukraine.
“Most of the drones launched by Russia for massed attacks on Ukraine enter Belarusian territory and fly across it, before entering Ukraine via the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions,” the State Border Guard Service spokesperson noted.
He emphasised that the Belarusian side does not condemn Russia’s use of its territory for such actions.
Is there a threat of an offensive from Belarus?
Demchenko also stated that Russia continues to put pressure on Belarus, attempting to draw it into the war against Ukraine. Due to the risk of provocations, Ukraine continues to strengthen its defences and build fortifications in the northern sector. At the same time, according to the State Border Service, no Russian forces sufficient for a new offensive are currently being deployed near the border with Belarus.
