The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained 13 organisers of schemes for draft dodgers
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police announced that they had blocked new schemes for evading mobilisation and detained their organisers in various regions of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the suspects offered conscripts the opportunity to avoid conscription for sums ranging from 5,000 to 16,000 US dollars.
This involved the preparation of forged documents or assistance in fleeing abroad.
In Kyiv, an official from the military unit headquarters was exposed who, according to the investigation, agreed to remove evaders from the wanted list and register them in rear units, where they did not actually appear.
Also in the capital, a former employee of the TCC was detained who, according to law enforcement, tried to get his former colleagues to "write off" his clients from military records.
In Vinnytsia region, an employee of a pumping station was detained who, according to the investigation, advised draft dodgers on routes for crossing the state border by wading through water bodies.
In Chernihiv, the head of a construction company was exposed for fictitiously employing conscripts in order to register them for "reservation".
In Lviv region, an unemployed local resident and his accomplice were detained on suspicion of selling fake medical certificates.
Separately, in the Stryi district, an entrepreneur was detained who, according to the investigation, promised to deliver evaders to the western border and show them routes for crossing outside checkpoints in exchange for money.
In Zakarpattia, the SBU detained a deserter from the Tyachiv district who, according to the investigation, together with his cohabitant, laid out escape routes for draft dodgers to the European Union across the Tisa River.
In addition, in the Berehove district, an entrepreneur and his contractor were exposed who, allegedly through acquaintances in the TCC, tried to unjustifiably "demobilise" their acquaintances.
In the Rakhiv district, a Kyiv resident and his accomplice were detained who, according to law enforcement officials, transported conscripts to the western border and then showed them escape routes through mountain trails to the European Union.
The detainees have been notified of their suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
These include Part 1 of Article 114-1 – obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period.
Part 3 of Article 332 – illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine – also applies.
In addition, law enforcement officers are charging them under Part 3 of Article 368 – acceptance of a proposal, promise or receipt of unlawful benefits by an official.
Part 3 of Article 369-2 – abuse of influence – also features in the case.
According to the SBU, the suspects face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by employees of regional SBU departments under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Chernihiv and Lviv regional prosecutor's offices, the Kyiv Specialised Prosecutor's Office for the Central Region and the Zakarpattia Specialised Prosecutor's Office for the Western Region.
