Two missing girls have been found dead in a pond in the Odesa region
This was reported by the Odessa Regional Police.
The girls stopped getting in touch
On the night of 6 June, a resident of the village of Zatyshshya contacted the police to report the disappearance of two girls aged 16 and 17. According to him, the teenagers were due to visit him, but did not turn up and stopped answering their phones. Law enforcement officers launched a search: they interviewed local residents and checked public places and locations where the teenagers might have been. During the search, police found the girls’ belongings near a pond where they had been relaxing.
The circumstances of the tragedy are being established
Divers from the State Emergency Service were called in to search the water body. In the morning, rescuers found the girls in the water showing no signs of life. An investigative team is working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the minors and deciding on the entry of information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. The police have reminded the public of the need to observe safety rules when spending time near bodies of water and have urged adults to supervise children’s leisure activities.
