Serhiy Fedorenko, Commercial Director and member of the Management Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, has temporarily taken charge of the company. He has replaced Serhiy Koretskyi, who has taken up the post of Prime Minister.

The decision to appoint Fedorenko for a fixed term was taken by Naftogaz’s independent supervisory board.

The Head of State described Fedorenko as an expert who, alongside Koretskyi, played a part in the transformation of ‘Ukrnafta’. According to Zelenskyi, the new chief executive is to continue the reforms at the state-owned company and ensure the stability of its operations.

Fedorenko has been working at Naftogaz since 2025

Serhiy Fedorenko was appointed Commercial Director of the Naftogaz Group in July 2025. Shortly afterwards, he also joined the company’s board of directors. In this role, Fedorenko was responsible for international contracts, and the procurement and sale of natural gas and other energy resources.

Before joining Naftogaz, he held a similar position at Ukrnafta. His responsibilities included the procurement and sale of petroleum products, logistics, gas and electricity trading, the development of a network of petrol stations, and the sale of fuel to corporate clients.

Over ten years in the oil and gas sector

Fedorenko has over ten years’ experience in the oil and gas sector. From 2015 to 2023, he served as Commercial Director at Ukrgazvydobuvannya and was a member of the company’s board. At the same time, from 2019 to 2022, he headed Naftogaz Oil Trading.

From 2022 to 2023, Fedorenko served as a volunteer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Upon returning to civilian life, he joined Koretsky’s team at Ukrnafta, before subsequently moving to Naftogaz.

Koretskyy led Naftogaz for just over a year

Serhiy Koretskyi took over as head of Naftogaz of Ukraine on 14 May 2025. Prior to this, he had led Ukrnafta and UkrTatNafta.

Following Koretskyi’s move to the Cabinet of Ministers, the supervisory board decided not to hold an immediate external competition, but to temporarily hand over management to one of the current members of the management board. Fedorenko is to lead the company for a period determined by the supervisory board.
