Defence forces hit oil depot in Volgograd region of Russia, region attacked by drones
On the night of 10 January, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the Oktyabrsky district of Volgograd region in Volgograd region. Local authorities in Russia said the fire was allegedly caused by the fall of a drone wreckage. Governor Andrei Bocharov said there were no casualties, but the region has prepared for the possible evacuation of residents of nearby buildings.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defence did not mention the downing of the drones over Volgograd region in its report. According to the official version of the ministry, a total of 59 drones were shot down over several regions of Russia, as well as over the Black and Azov Seas and occupied Crimea at night.
Against the backdrop of massive drone attacks, airports in a number of Russian regions were temporarily restricted. In particular, the airports of Volgograd, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar and Cheboksary suspended the reception and departure of flights. On the night of 10 January, Moscow's Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports were also temporarily closed. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that a drone was shot down on the approach to the Russian capital.
On the morning of 10 January, The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the damage to the Zhutovskaya oil depot in the Oktyabrsky district of Volgograd region. According to the General Staff, this facility provided fuel to units of the Russian occupation forces. The extent of the damage is currently being clarified.
In addition, the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck a number of Russian military targets in the temporarily occupied territories. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a drone depot of the 19th Motorised Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces was hit. A hit was also recorded on an enemy UAV control centre near Pokrovsk, Donetsk region.
In addition, in the occupied part of Donetsk region, the Defence Forces hit the concentration of personnel of the 76th Air Assault Division near Kurakhivka, the command and observation post of a tank battalion of the same division and the command post of a unit of the 41st Army of the Russian Federation near Hirnyk. In all cases, the strike drones were confirmed to have hit, and enemy losses are being clarified.
The General Staff stressed that the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue systematic actions to reduce the offensive and military economic potential of Russian troops in order to force Russia to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine.
