Social network X: Russia creates the most bots on the platform
This was reported by The Guardian.
Social network X stated that in 2024 it blocked 800 million accounts for violating platform rules related to spam and manipulation.
Company representatives informed British MPs of this.
X claims that the platform constantly counteracts attempts to influence content by entities supported by other states.
According to the social network, Russia is the most active creator of bots on the platform.
Iran and China follow Russia in this list.
The company noted that it was in the fight against such content that 800 million accounts were blocked in 2024.
At the same time, the platform did not specify which of these accounts were directly linked to foreign interference.
As noted by X Corp's head of public policy, Wifredo Fernandez, attempts to manipulate information or spam the platform have not stopped.
According to him, in the second half of 2025, "several hundred million accounts" were also deleted.
Fernandez said that Russia tried to undermine the 2024 US presidential election and "stir up conflict."
According to him, a large number of accounts were used for this purpose, attempting to "flood" the social network with "a certain type of narrative."
The article also recalls that in July 2025, researchers from Science Feedback and Alliance4Europe reported that more than 100 posts on social network X from sanctioned Russian propaganda media and accounts spreading disinformation remained available on the platform.
This happened despite reports of violations of European sanctions.
The researchers also found that the platform provided confirmation of receipt for only 57% of reports of illegal content that violates European digital services law.
