SpaceX робить ставку на ринок корпоративного ШІ: угода з Cursor на $60 млрд
Elon Musk has initiated a major deal between SpaceX and the start-up Cursor, which could be worth up to $60 billion.
This is according to Bloomberg.
This move signals a shift from a strategy of reaching a broad user base to a focused approach on business clients. The main goal is to integrate popular coding tools into the SpaceX and xAI ecosystem, enabling the company to compete with market leaders such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
The reason for the change in direction was the significant costs involved in maintaining free or low-cost chatbots for the mass market. The example of OpenAI shows that processing requests from millions of users requires substantial computing power, which is not always covered by subscription revenue.
In contrast, the corporate sector, particularly the development of software code using artificial intelligence, demonstrates higher profitability and stable demand from technical teams.
Using the Colossus supercomputer and Cursor technologies, Musk plans to create his own generative coding model. This will allow the company to use its own developments instead of solutions from Anthropic or OpenAI and to automate software creation.
This approach aims to change SpaceX’s market valuation ahead of its upcoming initial public offering (IPO) by transforming its chatbot division into a toolkit for developers.
