A serviceman who shot dead police officers and two women in Donetsk region has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Industrial District Court of Dnipro found a National Guard serviceman guilty of killing four people in the city of Lyman, Donetsk region, and sentenced him to life imprisonment, reports the DBR.

The investigation established that at the end of January 2024, a resident of Lyman reported to the police a conflict with a military man who entered her yard, knocked on the windows, and tried to get into the house. A detective and operational group arrived at the scene. Subsequently, law enforcement officers ceased communication, and another patrol was sent to the scene. Police found two of their colleagues shot dead and a damaged police vehicle. Also on the yard were the bodies of two women – a pensioner and her daughter. The perpetrator was detained at the scene.

The DBR investigators gathered comprehensive evidence, including over 20 forensic examinations.

DBR employees found that conflicts periodically arose between the military man and the local resident. When the detective and operational group arrived, the suspect shot at the police officers, seized their service weapons, and then killed the woman and her mother, who witnessed the crime.

The court found the serviceman guilty of illegal entry into a dwelling, hooliganism, intentional murder of law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties, intentional murder of two persons, murder to conceal another crime, possession, and illegal storage of firearms.
