Electricity rates from 1 April: how much Ukrainians will pay
From 1 April 2026, the electricity tariff for the population in Ukraine will remain unchanged.
For most domestic consumers, the cost of electricity will be 4.32 UAH per kWh.
This tariff will remain in effect until at least 30 April 2026, in accordance with a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
At the same time, special conditions will apply to certain categories of consumers.
The first category is owners of dwellings with two-zone electricity meters.
For them, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., the standard tariff of 4.32 UAH per kWh will apply, and from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., a preferential tariff of 2.16 UAH per kWh will apply.
The second category is owners of homes that are heated exclusively by electricity.
For them, until the end of the heating season, i.e. until 30 April 2026, the tariff will be 2.64 UAH per 1 kWh, but only if consumption does not exceed 2,000 kWh per month.
If consumption exceeds this limit, electricity will have to be paid for at the full tariff.
The article also notes that, according to a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, electricity prices are not expected to rise in May.
According to her, in the context of an electricity shortage, a tariff increase would seem strange.
Ukrainians were also reminded of the possibility of saving on electricity right now.
In particular, owners of dual-zone meters can reduce their costs by shifting the use of energy-intensive appliances to night-time hours.
This primarily concerns boilers, washing machines, electric convectors, microwave ovens and other appliances.
In some settlements, the regional power company is independently replacing conventional meters with dual-zone meters.
At the same time, households can separately request the installation of such a metering device.
To do this, they need to submit a request to replace the meter.
After that, on the specified date and time, a representative of the power company must come and install the new metering device.
After installation, the meter must be sealed, otherwise it will not be accepted for use.
It is also noted that from 1 to 30 April, a preferential tariff will still apply to owners of electric heating.
Up to a limit of 2,000 kWh, each kilowatt-hour will cost them 2.64 UAH, and above this amount, they will pay the full price.
Electricity consumption in April is usually lower than in winter.
This is due to warmer weather, which means that people use electric heating less often.
