The death toll from the Russian attack on Dnipro has risen to six
The death toll from the Russian attack on Dnipro continues to rise. According to the latest figures, six people have been killed in the shelling, including one rescue worker. Thirty-six people have been injured.
Earlier, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, reported five dead and 25 injured. Of these, 23 people were hospitalised. Among the injured is a 13-year-old girl, whose condition is described by medics as moderate. Three of the injured are in a serious condition.
According to rescue workers, whilst clearing up the aftermath of the attack, Russian troops launched a second strike on the city. As a result, an employee of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine was killed.
In Dnipro, two-storey and four-storey apartment blocks have been partially destroyed, a business premises has been damaged, and garages and cars have been destroyed. The blast wave also damaged the fire and rescue station, where windows were blown out.
The fires that broke out following the strikes have been extinguished. Meanwhile, the search and rescue operation is ongoing. According to preliminary information, people may be trapped under the rubble of the destroyed four-storey building. Dog handlers and psychologists from the State Emergency Service are working at the scene.
In Kam’yanske, the attack caused a fire on the second floor of a five-storey residential building. An administrative building and a single-storey residential building were also damaged.
