The heatwave in Ukraine is set to intensify to +35: which regions will be the first to feel the heat?
The western regions will be the first to feel the intense heat.
A wave of hot air is heading for Ukraine, which will push temperatures in some regions up to +35 degrees and above as early as the end of June. The western regions will be the first to feel the effects of the significant rise in temperatures, and the heat will subsequently spread to the north and centre of the country.

On Thursday, 25 June, most regions will still enjoy relatively pleasant summer weather. Forecasters predict temperatures of +12…+18 degrees at night and +24…+29 during the day.

In the south and west, temperatures will rise to as high as +32 degrees in places. Short showers are possible in the northern and eastern regions.

When the heat will intensify

The situation will begin to change at the weekend. A powerful high-pressure system, which is currently influencing the weather in Western Europe, will gradually move closer to Ukraine.

The western regions will be the first to feel the intense heat. The hot air will then spread to the northern and central regions.

In the Cherkasy region, according to Vitaliy Postrygan’s forecast, the first temperatures of +30…+32 degrees are expected on Sunday, 28 June. The hottest days are currently predicted to be 29 and 30 June, when temperatures could rise to +34…+36 degrees.

Why temperatures of +45, as seen in Europe, are not forecast for Ukraine

In parts of Europe, the intense heat was caused by a combination of a powerful anticyclone and hot air of African origin. In France, temperatures reached around +45 degrees in some places.

By the time this air mass reaches Ukraine, it will have already changed. As it moves across Western and Northern Europe, it will partially mix with cooler air currents, which is why forecasters do not expect such extreme temperatures as those seen in France.

However, next week is set to be significantly hotter than this week.

During periods of intense heat, it is advisable to spend less time outdoors at midday, drink plenty of water and not leave children or animals in locked cars. The elderly, children and people with cardiovascular conditions should be particularly careful.

On hot days, the strain on the electricity grid also increases, as people make greater use of air conditioning and fans.

The OECD has praised Ukraine’s anti-corruption system: what does a 100 per cent rating actually mean?

Ukraine received high marks in the OECD’s 2026 Review of Anti-Corruption and Integrity. However, a score of 100% does not mean that there is no corruption in the country: the OECD assesses, first and foremost, the quality of the rules, institutions and mechanisms for their implementation.
