The Netherlands has donated over 60 pick-up trucks and unmanned aerial vehicles to Ukraine
The Netherlands has delivered another batch of military aid to Ukraine, comprising more than 60 Toyota Hilux pick-up trucks as well as state-of-the-art unmanned aerial systems, according to Ukrinform.
The equipment was loaded onto railway platforms for onward shipment to Ukraine. Representatives from the Dutch Ministry of Defence and the companies supplying the equipment were present during the preparations.
Colonel Simon Wooda, who heads the Operational Task Force on Ukraine at the Dutch Ministry of Defence, said that the vehicles had been purchased from the civilian sector and repainted in military colours.
According to him, the pick-up trucks are being handed over to Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces to ensure the mobility of units operating strike and interception drones.
“This is just part of a larger aid package that we have already delivered and will continue to deliver,” said Simon Wooda.
He also emphasised that the speed of aid delivery is crucial, as the Ukrainian military needs it right now.
“We are not just supplying weapons; we are transferring capabilities. When we transfer a weapons system, it always comes with spare parts, ammunition, documentation translated into Ukrainian, and training is provided where necessary,” noted the colonel.
Representatives from Milrem Robotics, High Eye and Acecore Technologies were present during the dispatch of the equipment. They demonstrated the equipment that the Dutch Ministry of Defence had purchased for the Ukrainian military.
The companies stated that such systems are already being used for reconnaissance, evacuation, logistics, mine detection and autonomous missions.
The Dutch Ministry of Defence emphasised that unmanned technologies have become one of the key factors in modern warfare, and support for the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces is a strategic area of cooperation between the countries.
