Members of the Verkhovna Rada supported, at second reading and as a whole, a bill to establish a new state honour — the Order of Europe.

This was revealed during the broadcast of the parliamentary session.

271 MPs voted in favour of the draft law (No. 15359).

The Order of Europe will be awarded to Ukrainians and foreign nationals for outstanding personal achievements in supporting the country’s path towards full EU membership, for a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience, for safeguarding the security of the whole of Europe, and for strengthening international cooperation.

The draft law was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The document amends Article 7 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On State Awards of Ukraine’.

As a reminder, Poland has previously explained what will happen to the Order of the White Eagle, which Zelenskyy returned.
