Donald Trump announced a trade agreement with the EU
This is mentioned in the statement of Trump during a meeting with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The agreement was reached a few days before the deadline set by Trump, after which double tariffs could have been imposed on the EU.
It is noted that the EU agreed to purchase American energy resources amounting to $750 billion, and will also invest an additional $600 billion in military equipment and open markets for duty-free trade.
"So, we are going to do the following. The European Union will agree to buy energy supplies from the US worth $750 billion... They will agree to invest in the United States $600 billion more than they already do. So, they are investing a large amount of money. You know what that amount is. It is very significant," - emphasized Trump.
According to him, the EU agreed to open their countries for zero-tariff trade. At the same time, EU countries agreed to buy a huge amount of military equipment from the US.
"We don't know the exact amount, but it's good news because we produce the best military equipment in the world... So, these $750 billion, $600 billion open the country. We agree that the direct tariff on cars and everything else will be a 15 percent tariff," - he explained.
At the same time, this agreement does not cover pharmaceutical products. Steel and aluminum, according to Trump, will still be subject to a 50% duty.
The American leader noted that, in his opinion, this is the largest agreement his country has ever signed.
