A scheme to evade mobilisation was uncovered at the Main Hospital of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: an official was detained
The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor General and with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has stopped a scheme to evade mobilisation that was operating at the Main Military Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of the investigation, a high-ranking official of the centre for the organisation of security and defence of this medical facility was detained. According to the investigation, he enrolled his acquaintances in his unit, but after being enlisted in the defence department, they did not report for duty and did not perform any duties.
Among these individuals were citizens of draft age who were evading mobilisation. After their fictitious registration, their salary cards remained with the official, who withdrew funds from them.
Law enforcement officers documented that since May 2022, the suspect had received 2.6 million hryvnias in this way. During searches, cash and documents confirming illegal activities were seized from him.
SSU investigators informed the official that he was suspected of violating Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for embezzlement of property through abuse of official position on a particularly large scale. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention. The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
In addition, two of his clients have been charged. They are accused of evading military service under martial law. This carries a penalty of up to 10 years' imprisonment.
Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
