The Main Intelligence Directorate has identified the factories and research institutes producing the Russian Su-57 fighter jet
This has been reported by the press office of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
“The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is publishing an interactive 3D model and information on 103 enterprises involved in the production of Su-57 multi-role fighters,” the intelligence report states.
Among the identified enterprises are:
- St Petersburg-based Krasny Oktyabr JSC — a manufacturer of auxiliary power units — gas turbine engines and power units for the Su-57;
- The National Institute of Aviation Technologies, which is involved in the design of the multifunctional silicate glazing for the aircraft cockpit;
- The Institute of Theoretical and Applied Electrodynamics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which is developing and applying radio-absorbing coatings to aircraft components;
- YASHV Avia LLC – a manufacturer of aircraft tyres for Su-57 fighters.
It is noted that a third of these enterprises are still not subject to restrictions by any of the countries in the sanctions coalition, allowing them to retain access to foreign technologies and the component base necessary for the development of Russian combat aviation.
Su-57 fighter: what is known
The Su-57 is a Russian fifth-generation multi-role fighter. The aircraft made its maiden flight on 29 January 2010.
The aircraft was developed to replace the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force. India was originally supposed to participate in the project. However, in April 2018, India withdrew from the project, as the Indian military concluded that the promised Russian ‘fifth-generation fighter’ did not meet the stated requirements for stealth, avionics, radar and other aspects.
