In Kyiv, the train driver will appear before the court for injuring an 82-year-old passenger
The Kyiv electric train driver started moving with a passenger in the doors — now his actions are being investigated as a criminal offense.

Prosecutors of the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office of the capital have completed the pre-trial investigation and forwarded the indictment against the city electric train engineer to court.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred during the departure of the train from the "Troyeshchyna 2" station. The engineer closed the doors and started moving without ensuring that all passengers had entered the carriage.

At that moment, an 82-year-old man, who was trying to enter, lost his footing and fell. His legs ended up outside the carriage and remained trapped in the doors during the movement to the next station. During the trip, the passenger sustained severe injuries — including open fractures of both legs, as he caught on the protrusions on the platform.

This was reported by ThePublic.info, citing official information from the prosecutor's office.

The actions of the engineer are classified under Part 2 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of safety rules for railway transport, which resulted in serious bodily injuries.

The penalty for this article provides for up to 7 years of imprisonment.

Investigators from the Dnipro Police Department of Kyiv participated in the investigation.

At the same time, it is emphasized that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
