A man was stabbed to death in Kyiv after complaining about the noise at a children’s playground
This was reported by the Kyiv police.
On the evening of 7 April, the police were informed that the body of a man with a stab wound to the leg had been found at a children’s playground. Officers established that the deceased was a 23-year-old resident of a neighbouring building.
Investigators established that the Kyiv resident had gone outside due to a commotion caused by an unknown person in the courtyard, intending to complain about the disturbance. Instead, the assailant pulled out a knife and stabbed the man twice in the thigh before fleeing. The injured man fell to the ground and soon died from significant blood loss.
Within a few hours, the police had tracked down and arrested the attacker. He turned out to be a 31-year-old local resident.
It transpired that the perpetrator had also provoked a conflict with a group of passers-by and, during the altercation, stabbed another 23-year-old man.
Investigators informed the detainee that he was suspected of offences under Part 2 of Article 121 (intentional grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim) and Part 4 of Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to ten years’ imprisonment for his actions.
