In Kyiv, a native of Cherkasy region was detained for attacking women throughout the summer.

Law enforcement officers in the capital detained a 60-year-old native of Cherkasy region, who during the summer attacked women in various districts of Kyiv. The man has already been charged with rape and robbery, reports the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

He tracked his victims in sparsely populated areas and followed them. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the suspect attacked a 26-year-old woman at Lukyanivskyi Cemetery, knocked her to the ground, and attempted to undress her. Threatening her with a stationery knife, he took her jewelry and money. The victim begged him not to hurt her, saying she was pregnant, and the attacker immediately fled.

Some time before this attack, in the Dnipro district, this man attacked a 20-year-old girl returning from work. He approached her from behind, pressed a knife to her neck, and forced her to go with him to a deserted place. There, the man raped the girl and took her jewelry and money.

The suspect was convicted in 2014 of murder for profit, robbery, and armed assault. In July of this year, he was released from prison due to reaching retirement age.
