Russia has stepped up security measures on the Crimean bridge ahead of the New Year holidays. The Russian Ministry of Transport has deployed more than 200 additional checkpoints and declared its readiness to check up to 17,520 vehicles per day.

On the eve of the New Year holidays, Russia announced the strengthening of security measures on the Crimean Bridge. This was reported by the Russian state media with reference to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Suspilne Media reports.

The head of the department Andrey Nikitin instructed to ensure maximum traffic safety. According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, security measures have been stepped up and the number of checkpoints increased before the holidays. 212 additional posts were involved in traffic control, which, according to the Russian side, allows them to check up to 17,520 vehicles per day and maintain uninterrupted traffic

In addition, Rosavtodor and the companies Avtodor were instructed to form a reserve of special equipment and a stock of reagents for work in bad weather conditions on the roads.

The security measures come amid a difficult weather situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea. About 17,000 residents have been left without electricity due to the bad weather, causing disruptions in transport and delays in trains travelling to the peninsula
