Weather in Ukraine on 22 July: where to expect heavy rain, hail and squalls
This has been reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.
During the day, there will be brief showers accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of south-western Ukraine. In the Odesa region, forecasters are predicting heavy rain, whilst in some parts of the region there may be hail and squalls with wind speeds of 15–20 metres per second.
Heavy rainfall may reduce visibility on the roads, whilst gusty winds could cause branches to fall and damage poorly secured structures.
Overnight, the effects of the atmospheric front will still be felt in the eastern regions. No significant rainfall is forecast for the rest of Ukraine over the next 24 hours.
What will the temperature be like in Ukraine?
Cooler air from the north-west will prevail over most of the country. Warmer air masses will persist in the southern and eastern regions.
Across most of Ukraine, night-time temperatures will range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. During the day, temperatures will rise to between 21 and 26 degrees.
It will be warmer in the south and east: temperatures are expected to be 14–19 degrees at night and 24–29 degrees during the day.
The wind will be mainly westerly and north-westerly, with speeds of 5–10 metres per second. During thunderstorms in the Odesa region, gusts may increase to 15–20 metres per second.
Weather in Kyiv and the Kyiv region
In Kyiv on 22 July, variable cloud cover with no rain is forecast. Overnight, temperatures will range from 13–15 degrees, and during the day from 22–24 degrees.
It will also be dry in the Kyiv region. Overnight, temperatures will range from 10–15 degrees, and during the day from 21–26 degrees. The wind will be westerly, at 5–10 metres per second.
During a thunderstorm, ThePublic advises against leaving cars under trees or advertising structures, removing loose items from balconies, and staying away from power lines.
