In Romania, two Ukrainians have been accused of attempting to carry out acts of sabotage on behalf of Russia
The Romanian Public Prosecutor’s Office has charged two Ukrainian nationals with attempted sabotage as part of an alleged conspiracy linked to Russia.
This was reported by Balkan Insight.
According to law enforcement officials, two Ukrainians aged 23 and 24 placed two parcels containing an incendiary substance in October at the premises of Nova Post — the international courier service of Nova Poshta.
The post office was located on the ground floor of a seven-storey residential building in a central, densely populated area of Bucharest. Therefore, a potential explosion would have been considered a threat to Romania’s national security, the prosecution service said.
The Ukrainians, who have already been taken into custody, face up to ten years in prison if found guilty.
The arrest of the two Ukrainians in October 2025 was carried out in cooperation with Poland, where six suspects were also arrested. Law enforcement agencies in both countries link the plans to carry out sabotage with work for the Russian special services.
