Ukraine’s first guided aerial bomb has passed the necessary tests and is ready for combat use. According to Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, development took 17 months, and the Ministry of Defence has already procured the first trial batch.

Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on Facebook.

Ukraine has developed its first domestically designed guided aerial bomb.

According to Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the developer is a member of Brave1.

The guided aerial bomb has already passed the necessary tests and is ready for combat use.

“We are continuing to develop Ukrainian high-tech solutions for the front line. A member of Brave1 has created the first Ukrainian guided aerial bomb, which has already passed the necessary tests and is ready for combat use,” Fedorov noted.

According to him, development work took 17 months.

The minister emphasised that the Ukrainian guided aerial bomb has a unique design and was created with the realities of modern warfare in mind.

Fedorov stated that this is not a copy of Western or Soviet designs, but an original development by Ukrainian engineers.

According to him, the new weapon is designed to effectively destroy fortifications, command posts and other enemy targets tens of kilometres inland after launch.

The warhead of the Ukrainian guided aerial bomb weighs 250 kg.

The Ministry of Defence has already purchased the first experimental batch.

Pilots are currently practising combat scenarios and adapting the use of the new weapon to real-world combat conditions.

Fedorov stated that Ukraine is moving away from importing individual solutions towards creating its own high-tech weapons.

According to him, such developments should systematically strengthen the Defence Forces and provide a technological advantage on the battlefield.

“Soon, Ukrainian KABs will be targeting enemy positions. We are scaling up solutions that increase strike range and accuracy and are changing the rules of modern warfare,” the Defence Minister noted.
