Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Russian companies operating within the Russian defence industry
This was announced by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed decrees implementing the decisions of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine regarding the imposition of sanctions.
There are two sets of restrictions.
The first decree concerns the extension of sanctions against 13 individuals and 21 legal entities, the validity of which was due to expire.
These sanctions were introduced in 2023. The Office of the President noted that four companies from that list have ceased their unlawful activities.
Restrictive measures have, in particular, been extended against Iryna Babakova, Nataliia Selivanova and Vadym Giner.
According to the Office of the President, they are linked to the activities in Ukraine of the financial and industrial group “VS Group Management LLC”.
This group, as noted in the statement, was established by Russian citizens subject to sanctions – representatives of the former criminal group “Luzhniki”: Alexander Babakov, Mikhail Voevodin and Yevgeny Giner.
The second decree concerns new sanctions.
They have been imposed on 32 Russian companies and 34 Russian citizens. Most of these individuals are directors and founders of companies.
Among the sanctioned companies are firms involved in supplying goods for the S-300 and S-400 systems, and the “Topol”, “Yars” and “Iskander” ballistic missiles.
The sanctions also apply to companies involved in the supply of gunpowder, rocket fuel and components for ammunition.
The sanctions list also includes Russian companies that manufacture radio-technical reconnaissance equipment and airborne platforms for specialised equipment.
Separate restrictions have been imposed on companies involved in supply chains for high-precision industrial equipment and electronic components that circumvent sanctions.
The Office of the President also reported that the list includes individuals who attempted to organise the lifting of US sanctions against Russia and to soften the European Union’s stance.
Ukraine will provide its partners with all the necessary information to ensure full synchronisation of sanctions across international jurisdictions. The relevant decrees have been published on the Office of the President’s website.
As reported by ThePublic, Ukraine is launching a ‘transport visa-free regime’ with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
