Significant import volumes in the second half of January and February 2026 helped build up reserves ahead of the crisis triggered by the military conflict between the US and Iran.
The western route accounted for the bulk of supplies in February, totalling 117,000 tonnes (+14% compared to January). At the same time, a significant increase in imports from the south was recorded – volumes rose by 25%, reaching 71,400 tonnes. The rapid growth in this direction is due to a tenfold surge in Greek petrol supplies (to 35,000 tonnes).
Lithuanian exports rose by 13%, reaching 56,600 tonnes. Ukraine currently consumes a quarter of all petrol produced by the ORLEN Lietuva plant. The Polish ORLEN was even more active, increasing shipments by 28% (to 26,400 tonnes).
Peripheral destinations also supported this positive trend: total imports from Slovakia and Slovenia increased from 8,000 to 9,000 tonnes.
A sharp rise in fuel prices could limit consumption. Against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, the price of A-95 petrol at filling stations has risen by more than 7 UAH since early March.
