Ukraine and Switzerland launch economic stability programme for 2026–2030
Ukraine and Switzerland are launching a new large-scale economic sustainability programme called "Competitiveness for Ukraine's Recovery 2026–2030". The relevant memorandum of understanding was signed on 21 January 2026 during the World Economic Forum in Davos, according to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The document was signed by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, Oleksiy Sobolev, and the Federal Council Delegate for Ukraine, Jacques Gerber, who represents the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
According to Sobolev, the new programme should significantly strengthen the competitiveness of Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises and promote their integration into European and global value chains. The priority sectors identified are agribusiness and food processing, sustainable construction, woodworking, mechanical engineering and IT.
The memorandum outlines four strategic areas of cooperation. These are simplifying the conditions for doing business, strengthening the institutional capacity of business associations and regional development agencies, modernising enterprises by introducing green technologies and European Union standards, and developing human capital. Particular emphasis is placed on involving veterans, women and internally displaced persons in economic recovery.
The programme will be implemented in ten regions of Ukraine and will be synchronised with national strategies and the Ukraine Facility plan. It is expected to contribute to more balanced regional recovery and the creation of new jobs. The ministry stressed that the initiative is a logical continuation of Switzerland's support for Ukraine, which is already involving its private sector in reconstruction projects.
