Ukraine celebrates Armed Forces Day: gratitude to the military and unwavering faith in victory
December 6th Ukraine celebrates the Armed Forces Day — a holiday of courage, gratitude, and resilience. On this day, ceremonies, military awards, meetings with the families of defenders, and moments of silence for those who gave their lives for freedom take place in all regions.
The main theme of the festive events was words of gratitude to the Ukrainian military, who for over ten years have been holding back the armed aggression of Russia, and since 2022 have been waging a large-scale war for independence. In squares and military garrisons, ceremonies of raising the national flag, laying flowers at memorials, and festive concerts are held.
President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the military and Ukrainians:
«All our warriors are the strength that keeps Ukraine alive. The personal courage of each and every one makes the freedom of the entire nation possible.»
He thanked all units — from infantry to aviators, from medics to volunteers, emphasizing that each of them brings us closer to Victory.
«We will withstand and win. Because we fight for our native land. And no one can take away our faith in ourselves», — the head of state noted.
On the occasion of the holiday, state awards, orders, and medals are presented in military units, and meetings with the families of fallen heroes are held. In many cities, locations are operating to collect aid for the front — from winter gear to donations for drones.
Moleben prayers for Ukrainian soldiers were held in St. Michael's Cathedral and other churches. Candles of remembrance for the fallen were lit on central squares in various cities.
Armed Forces Day is not just a calendar date, but a reminder of the price of freedom. Society continues to support the army that defends the country every day.
Happy Armed Forces Day of Ukraine!
